Topic 3 - CARS OF TODAY

These lessons begin with a simple crossword puzzle that teachers can use as a warm-up to discussions about air pollution. This activity helps motivate students to begin thinking about the vocabulary associated with automobile emissions and air pollution.

Grades K-2, one story time session;

Grades 3-5, approximately 30 minutes

Student Objectives:
  • Students will become aware of alternative means of getting to school.
  • Students will discuss the impact various forms of transportation have on clean air.
  • Older students will observe and record various means of transportation and discuss ways to reduce the number of driving trips.
